So glad you're here! I'm Lindsay and I am the founder of For the Hope, a place I've always anticipated others would find their own voice in.
I live in Brooklyn, NYC-- swimming among vibrant traditions, the sound of beautiful languages, echoing boomboxes, and the occasional garbage-strewn streets. Living in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn has taught me the beauty of otherness, and the richness of life outside of one's own culture. I've lived here for 12 years with my wonderful husband, Dane, and now our two young children.
I've been writing love notes and poems and creative pieces since I was a little girl, hoping my persuasive letters would convince my parents of just one more late bedtime. Words have always been the key to my heart, able to spill out my true feelings, thoughts, emotions, and encouragement more freely than verbal ones.
For the Hope was born not only from a lifetime struggle with mental health but more specifically an intense season of life-altering anxiety and darkness. Through my faith in Christ to keep moving, the years of redemption and healing that followed were what brought me from a person of complete hopelessness to one that has lived with hope. I desire to help others see this in themselves and their faith-- to take them by the hand and usher in the words, encouragement, and voice that can bring forth change and new life.
What I want you to find here is the ability to allow yourself to feel, write, speak or move. To read and hold close words that soothe the spaces in your mind and heart that have gone untouched or left to wither. I hope to remind you that there is always a new way before you-- one of purpose and strength despite what has tried to claw you back down.
